Not-So-Hard Acrostics (Though I’ve a Pretty Taste for Paradox)

Acute and sharp, the cold comes in
Urgent, an ending, in pain.
This is not a metaphor.
Useless, unmoving, you wish it was:
Monkey plague in my lungs, like, thanks, Dad.
Not.

Take over my shift, make me soup
Help me stand, make me eat,
Ask although the answer’s always “fine”
Not too sick for sexual harassment;
Know I won’t take it “like that.”
Sincerity looks weird on me.

[Slurp!]
Uggh—bleagh!
[Cough] [glug glug glug]
Kakk akk akkk… [shudder] hwauuuhh:
Sugar-free cough syrup.
